Patient of the Month: Mary Elizabeth Entrekin

Mary Elizabeth Entrekin is a thirteen year old with a bubbly personality and a philanthropic heart.  Her volunteer work in the community has made an impact on children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and has landed her the award, Patient of the Month.

“Being involved in Girl Scouts and National Jr. Honors society has allowed me to do tons of charity work” says Entrekin.  “One of the charities I help out with is the Harrison County Foster Shelter.”  Not only has Mary dedicated her time to supporting the shelter, she uses her crafting ability as well.  When she isn’t volunteering, Mary is making and selling bracelets to raise funds for the foster home.  The proceeds from the bracelets are used to buy gift cards, goodies, and other things the kids at the shelter might enjoy.   “I started out making bracelets for myself and friends and got the idea to sell them. I talked to my mom about it and decided to use the money to give back.”

In her spare time, Mary enjoys playing tennis, golfing, participating in Girl Scouts, and reading.  Currently, her favorite book is “The Divergent Series” by Veronica Roth

Mary was nominated by our Patient Care Manager, Katie Kaley. She has been awarded a plaque and a $250 gift card from Dr. Frigo and his team.

Do you know one of our patients that is involved in the community?  We’d love to hear from you! Stop by our office and fill out a nomination form.
